Unfortunately, one in two marriages ends in divorce. And the financial decisions you make during a divorce can impact you far longer than the emotional scars. In fact, preparing for the financial side of your divorce is just as important as the legal side of your divorce.

Partners in Financial Planning, Inc. has financial planners on staff who specialize in helping you and your attorney design a financially fair settlement. By carefully analyzing your assets, debts and future financial obligations such as college and retirement, we provide the information you need to make smart money decisions before, during and after your divorce.

Our services include:

  • Pre-divorce consulting.
  • Valuing of assets.
  • Evaluation of financial data.
  • Identifying tax considerations and consequences.
  • Comparing settlement options.

Trish Goodman, president, founded Partners after she and her husband, John, faced some financial hardships of their own. In 1986, Congress passed the Tax Reform Act, eliminating the Goodmans' write-offs on income produced by their real estate earnings and reducing the market value of their real estate property. In addition, when John's 7-year career ended from the Pittsburgh Steelers with no assets aside from their real estate, no liquidity, no diversity and no financial plan to speak of, the Goodmans were ill-prepared for their financial wake-up call.

Since that time, Trish has been committed to bringing the value of financial planning to the public's attention. In the aftermath of the World Trade Center attack, Trish advised New Yorkers on dealing with the financial turmoil they were experiencing. She also shared with them her knowledge and understanding of the financial difficulties confronting Oklahomans after the 1995 Murrah bombing.

Trish is a 1984 graduate of the University of Oklahoma, earning a bachelor of business administration with a major in finance. In practice for 18 years, Trish earned the distinguishing CFP(TM) designation in 1996 and her Certified Divorce Financial Analyst(TM) certification in 2005. Trish is the past president of the Financial Planning Association's central Oklahoma chapter and has been asked to speak at American Bar Association and CDFA national conferences. In addition, she has been featured in guest appearances in local television as well as in the New York Times, Newsweek, Smart Money Magazine and the Journal Record.

Today, Trish and her staff of professionals work with individuals and families at every stage in their lives. From newlyweds to soon-to-be-retirees, Partners helps people manage their financial lives so they can live life to the fullest.
